LG Electronics Unveils World’s First 1000Hz FHD Gaming Monitor
LG Electronics unveiled the world’s first Full HD (1920 x 1080) gaming monitor featuring a 1000Hz refresh rate. Designed for fast-paced competitive esports and first-person shooter games, the new LG UltraGear (model 25G590B) aims to deliver high visual responsiveness, motion clarity, and consistent performance to enable faster player reactions.
The 25G590B model is the first FHD 1000Hz gaming monitor launched by a consumer electronics brand, moving past initial technical demonstrations. Unlike dual-mode monitors that require users to adjust screen size or resolution to reach maximum refresh rates, the company said the 25G590B delivers its native 1000Hz performance at full FHD resolution to maintain stable training and competition environments.
To enhance visual clarity, the UltraGear monitor incorporates LG’s Motion Blur Reduction Pro technology to make fast-moving objects easier to track during intense gameplay. The display utilizes an advanced IPS panel combined with a low-reflection coating to deliver consistent color reproduction while reducing glare.
The 24.5-inch screen size was selected to match standard esports environments, allowing competitive players to keep key visual elements within their natural field of view, according to LG Electronics. The hardware design features a sleek, space-saving stand with a small base footprint to maximize desktop surface area for mouse movement. Additionally, calibration indicators on the stand allow users to precisely duplicate their preferred height, swivel, and tilt adjustments. The monitor also features an illuminated UltraGear logo providing customizable ambient lighting.
The 25G590B model incorporates built-in artificial intelligence features to optimize performance. An AI-powered scene optimization feature adjusts picture settings based on the game genre, while AI-supported audio provides spatial sound and clearer communication when used with compatible headsets, the company said.
“This moment represents a major milestone in the gaming monitor industry, as LG has established a new performance standard for competitive gaming by delivering the world’s first FHD 1000Hz gaming monitor,” in commentary attributed to Lee Chong-hwan, head of the display division at LG Home Entertainment Company.
The LG UltraGear 25G590B is expected to launch in selected markets during the second half of 2026, with availability expanding to additional markets later in the year.
