HONOR showcases new innovative camera technologies in collaboration with ARRI
AI device ecosystem brand HONOR hosted its Imaging Technology Launch in Hengdian, introducing a new approach to mobile image processing. Pivotally stepping away from traditional pixel-count metrics, HONOR unveiled a complete mobile imaging pipeline that blends optical capture, deep AI processing, and professional cinema color science through a strategic partnership with motion-picture technology firm ARRI.
Underpinning HONOR’s vision is the “Optics-Intelligence Evolution” core principle: “Optics is the foundation, and intelligence raises the ceiling.” To realize this framework, HONOR introduced its full-chain AiMAGE processing engine spanning three core hardware nodes:

Chip-Level Innovations: HONOR engineered a self-developed, Transformer-based native AI ISP aimed at reconstructing image processing pipelines from the ground up, paired alongside next-generation pixel arrays and Event Velocity Sensor (EVS) hardware.

Device-Level Integration: Physical hardware works synchronously with real-time algorithms, featuring a custom-built titanium alloy three-axis gimbal embedded inside the phone chassis for hardware stabilization and real-time motion control.

Cloud-Level Processing: Advanced cloud nodes process RAW-domain image enhancements, spatial reconstruction data, and deploy AI-driven Imaging Agent modules to offload processing demand from the local hardware.
Through its Strategic Technology Cooperation with ARRI, HONOR has natively embedded key components of Hollywood production workflows into the HONOR Robot Phone. Mobile creators can now shoot using ARRI LogC3 to maximize dynamic range and preserve highlight-shadow detail for post-production grading. The system also utilizes ARRI Wide Gamut 3 for expanded color space coverage and built-in ARRI Looks for controlled cinematic color profiles.

To further technical development, both entities announced the formation of a Joint Imaging Technology Lab. The facility will focus research efforts across three verticals: sensor-level optics and dynamic range development, end-to-end cinema workflows from capture to post-production, and aesthetic standards in the AI era. Harald Brendel, ARRI Director of Image Science, highlighted that the effort brings true cinematic color standards into mobile environments with consistency and creative control.
