Ferrari reveals Luce as a new electric chapter for Maranello

Editors Team

Ferrari revealed the Ferrari Luce at Villa di Calatrava – City of Sport in Rome, introducing a new category within Maranello’s lineup built around a fully electric architecture. The company said the car is part of Ferrari’s multi-energy strategy and does not replace its existing powertrains.

The Ferrari Luce uses a dedicated platform with four electric motors, one for each wheel, a 122 kWh battery, and an 800-volt electrical architecture. According to Ferrari, the car delivers up to 1,050 horsepower, a driving range of more than 530 kilometers, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds, and a top speed of more than 310 km/h.

Ferrari said the main components were designed, developed, and manufactured in-house in Maranello, from the electric motors to the battery pack. The project includes more than 60 new patents, which the company linked to its focus on quality, control, and technical differentiation.

The design of the Ferrari Luce was developed in collaboration with LoveFrom, led by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson. Ferrari involved the creative collective alongside the Ferrari Design Center led by Flavio Manzoni to develop a unified design language across the exterior, interior, and user interface.

The car features a clean glass body designed like an integrated shell, with floating front and rear aerodynamic wings shaped around the body to manage airflow and aerodynamic performance. The car has four doors and five seats, a layout that Ferrari said was made possible by the electric architecture.

Inside, the interface combines mechanical buttons, switches, and knobs with multifunction digital displays developed in collaboration with Samsung Display. The cabin uses recycled anodized aluminum, Corning Gorilla glass, and premium leather. It also includes an audio system with 21 speakers, a 3,000-watt amplifier, and 24 channels.

Ferrari positioned sound as a functional part of the driving experience rather than a separate digital effect. The system captures vibrations from the electric axles through a high-precision accelerometer, then filters, equalizes, and amplifies the signal in a way the company compared to an electric guitar. Sound levels depend on the e-Manettino setting and the use of the paddles behind the steering wheel.

The car includes active suspension inspired by the F80, independently steered rear wheels, and torque vectoring across all four wheels. A new Vehicle Control Unit integrates powertrain and vehicle dynamics control in one functional unit and updates operating commands 200 times per second, according to Ferrari.

According to Ferrari, the Ferrari Luce achieved the lowest aerodynamic drag coefficient in the history of Maranello road cars. The aerodynamic system uses continuous surfaces, active air shutters that manage airflow through heat exchangers, and an active ride-height system that can lower the car’s front end by 10 mm in certain driving conditions.

The Ferrari Luce supports fast charging at up to 350 kW, with the ability to charge 70 kWh in 20 minutes using a suitable fast charger. The car also introduces new connected services, including the MyFerrari Luce app, remote-control functions, and navigation based on Google Maps and Apple Maps with EV-specific route planning.

Ferrari said the car is covered by its seven-year maintenance program, which includes scheduled maintenance during the first seven years of the car’s life. The Luce also receives a dedicated eight-year warranty covering key electric powertrain components, including the front and rear axles, the battery, and the charging system.

In commentary attributed to Ferrari Chairman John Elkann, the Ferrari Luce was described as more than a new car and as the opening of a new chapter that turns the company’s vision into reality. In commentary attributed to Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna, the car was described as Ferrari’s vision for electric systems, bringing together driving emotion, performance, driving pleasure, and comfort.
