Today, the Dubai-based carrier sets a benchmark; Starlink-equipped airframes deliver up to 2 gigabits per second (Gbps) of aggregate network throughput. This capacity upgrade enables passengers across all travel classes to access free, seamless data sessions, supporting live interactive video calls, heavy gaming, and continuous media streaming at a cruising altitude of 40,000 feet. The airline currently operates more than 60 daily departures running the advanced low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite hardware.<\/p>\n
To accelerate fleet-wide deployment, internal teams have localized the mechanical installation processes directly inside the Emirates Engineering Centre in Dubai, onboarding additional retrofitted aircraft to active flight rotations weekly. Future platform upgrades plan to route live television streaming directly over the Starlink network, initializing via passengers’ personal mobile terminals before eventual backend integration into Emirates’ ice inflight entertainment ecosystem, which hosts over 6,500 continuous channels. This wireless expansion runs parallel to the airline\u2019s broader cabin retrofit program.
