Sony Honda Mobility debuts AFEELA prototype 2026 at CES 2026
Sony Honda Mobility held a press conference in Las Vegas on January 5, ahead of CES 2026, and unveiled the AFEELA Prototype 2026 alongside a pre-production version of AFEELA 1.
The company listed a 2026 start for AFEELA 1 deliveries in California, with an expansion to Arizona planned for 2027. It also set an early 2028 target for a U.S. launch of a production model based on the AFEELA Prototype 2026.
Sony Honda Mobility said reservations for AFEELA 1 opened in California in January 2025, followed by AFEELA Studio showrooms and exhibition events that drew more than 100,000 visitors and over 24,000 in-vehicle demonstrations within the first year. The company also cited trial production runs in fall 2025 at Honda’s East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio, and said it exhibited pre-production vehicles at CES 2026.
For rollout, the company plans to open “AFEELA Studio and Delivery Hubs” in Torrance and Fremont, California, in spring 2026, combining showroom and delivery functions. A phased program called AFEELA Advanced Access is planned for early reservation holders, with demo drives targeted for late 2026.
On technology, Sony Honda Mobility highlighted AFEELA Intelligent Drive, which it described as its advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), and said it is integrating a vision-language model (VLM) into its approach. It also described an AFEELA Personal Agent that uses Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, and said it plans to adopt Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis in its next-generation electrical and electronic (E/E) architecture.
The company also outlined the “AFEELA Co-Creation Program” to share development documentation for in-vehicle entertainment and said it is building cloud application programming interfaces (APIs) and an Android development environment for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI). Separately, it described plans for an open, on-chain mobility service platform that uses a token-based incentive model.
