Sandisk introduced SANDISK Optimus as the new umbrella brand for its internal solid-state drives (SSDs) at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, reworking the naming of its client storage lineup for gamers, creators, and professional users.

The company is moving its internal Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) SSD portfolio away from the WD_BLACK and WD Blue labels and into three tiers: SANDISK Optimus, SANDISK Optimus GX, and SANDISK Optimus GX PRO.

Under the new structure, SANDISK Optimus targets users who want a balance of speed and price and replaces the WD Blue NVMe family, including the WD Blue SN5100 NVMe SSD. SANDISK Optimus GX is positioned for gaming-focused performance and replaces WD_BLACK client drives such as the WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe SSD. SANDISK Optimus GX PRO sits at the top of the lineup and is aimed at higher-end builds, including AI PCs and workstations, replacing WD_BLACK models such as the WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD.

Sandisk also rolled out new packaging and product design tied to the Optimus branding, while keeping the lineup’s existing focus on reliability and performance. Products with the updated branding are expected to reach select retailers worldwide in the first half of 2026.
