Huawei to launch its next gen running watch in 26 February
Huawei is set to launch its next-generation HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner on February 26 in Madrid. The professional running watch, developed over five years of sustained research and development, was designed with direct input from world-class athletes and targets the professional athletic market.
According to Huawei, the new WATCH GT Runner represents a generational advancement in tracking accuracy for heart rate zones, lactate threshold measurement, and GPS positioning in complex terrains. The watch incorporates Huawei’s proprietary TruSense technology and Sunflower positioning system to support precise route and pace data, even in challenging environments.
Prior to its official launch, the watch was used by several runners from the DSM-Firmenich Running Team during the Burj2Burj Half Marathon in Dubai earlier this month. Huawei noted that the device underwent competitive testing before its debut, drawing public attention.
Huawei stated that real-world performance data from elite athletes, including heart rate zones, lactate threshold fluctuations, and high-altitude metrics, were integrated into its advanced algorithms. The company also recruited over 100 runners for long-term testing and developed machine learning models for fatigue assessment to provide scientific guidance on exercise.
The launch event will also mark the return of the Mate Series to the global stage after a three-year hiatus, with the introduction of the Mate 80 Pro. The new HUAWEI MatePad Mini will debut alongside the smartphone, expanding Huawei’s device ecosystem.
Huawei said the upcoming launch in Madrid reflects five years of innovation in sports-tracking technology, positioning the new watch in the professional athletics segment.
