Tiktok to livestream parts of 2026 world cup matches
TikTok will work with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) on coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including live broadcasts of “parts of matches” on the platform. The partnership is described as a “Preferred Platform” deal and runs through the end of 2026.
The agreement allows FIFA World Cup 2026 media partners to livestream selected match segments on TikTok, post additional curated clips, and access special content produced for TikTok. The announcement did not specify how long the live segments will be.
TikTok’s World Cup coverage will be organized around a dedicated FIFA World Cup 2026 hub inside the app. The hub is expected to include match-related discovery features, ticket and viewing information, and participation tools such as custom stickers, filters, and other gamified features.
FIFA and TikTok also outlined a creator program tied to the tournament. A selected group of global TikTok creators will receive access to behind-the-scenes moments, including press conferences and training sessions, to produce content during the World Cup. The partnership also includes opportunities for creators to use and co-create FIFA archival footage.
The announcement also included monetization provisions for FIFA’s official media partners on TikTok through the platform’s premium advertising tools, alongside anti-piracy measures intended to protect FIFA’s intellectual property.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19 across 16 host cities in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
